Magnus 29th December
Christmas was very good.  I opened my presents myself.  Got a very large new toy and another posh collar.  Very smart.  Ate lots of lovely stuff and dozed on the couch.  Ewen has cut back on my Tramadol.  I was feeling very odd and stared a lot into space.  I have full access to the couch and the bed.  This is rather annoying her ladyship.  Tough!!  Gave her a really good chasing today, up the golf course.  Felt in fine fettle.

Mirren 29th December

I am trying to be nice but it can prove tricky.  He chased me all around the first fairway today.  VERY unexpected.  Had to watch he didn't get my tail.
My new collar is beautiful.  It's very pink and girly.  Magnus's is much more boyish.  He suits it but Pam says I look really good in mine.
Magnus is getting the run of the bed and the couch just now.  It's fine because that gives me total control of the studio couch and the furry downies.  Great.  And, if he gets a treat, I get to have one too.  It's win win really.

Magnus 24th December

I have to go back to the vet in 2weeks for more x-rays.  The Dick Veterinary College is not convinced. Maybe I have what Pam has.  Roomy arthuritis or something. I can relax over Christmas.  Ewen is coming with me next time I have x-rays.  Colin said it took several attempts to get me calm for the x-rays.  Then I needed my own room because I was making so much noise.  I just do not like the vet place.  Anyway, there seems to be a lot of venison and ham and pate going round at the moment.

Mirren 24th December

Our friend Lexi has been working at Miss World in London, chaperoning young ladies.  Who needs Miss World when she can have me.

Big Boy is quite quiet.  Must be the Tramadol.  Good things are being smelled.  Venison. Yummy.

WE WISH YOU ALL A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND MAY YOUR GOD GO WITH YOU.

December 16th Mirren

Big Boy is not well.  He has a limp and a sore shoulder.  He's been to see Colin without me.  Pam and Ewen are in tears.  I have to be very nice and very gentle with him.  There is nothing else I can say.  He is just 5 years and 3 months old.

Magnus

I have to be brave.  I have osteosarcoma.  My shoulder hurts.  I have lots of stuff to take, in ham.  Pam and Ewen have told me they are going to spoil me and we are going to visit all the places I love.  I feel very sad.  I have a very happy life and I get upset seeing them so heartsore.

Magnus 11th December

Pam thinks I am a genius.  I have found a new way of letting the humans know what I want.  I head butt and push them until they get where I want them.  Pam was wrapping presents and I needed her to listen to me.  So I did the usual. Swiped her with a paw.  Having got her attention, I wandered towards the kitchen and the back door.  She thought I wanted out.  I got behind her and butted her with my head so she went in the direction I wanted her to go.......... the fridge.  She called Ewen, so I had to push and bump him until he got in front of the fridge.
Bingo.  I got chicken.

Tuesday 9 December 2014

Magnus 9th December.

Snow. Snow. Snow.  Yipee.  Snow's back.   I love it.  Makes my hair all tingly and standy up.  It feels right when I am in the snow.  Just love it.  Mirren quite likes it as well but she's a bit more careful.
She was a lot nicer in the snow than she was at the beach.  She really was "The Bitch on the Beach" the other day.  Ewen let her off the lead for the first time in ages and she was just horrible to me.  She kept giving me verbal grief and then she'd snap at me.  She can't be in season again already, so she doesn't have that excuse.
Anyway, back to the snow.  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat stuff.

Mirren 9th December

I guess I was a bit nasty the other day.  It was just lovely to be off the lead, even if just for a wee while. Big Boy has got too used to being his own boss when we are out.  I just had to re-establish my authority on things.
Snow's okay.  Personally, I find it a bit chilly on the paws.  We were passing The Grey Mare's Tail and we were let out for a run.  Pam stayed in the car.  Too nippy for her.  Snow is alright if you are running at speed, but when you are trotting along it is inclined to get stuck in between the pads of my paws.  I do prefer the comfort of a warm and furry couch these days.  I have rather got stuck in the couch potato mode.  I think I'd better get back to the gym if Big Boy is to be kept in line.

Magnus 29th November.

Magnus 29th November

Huh!! Well  can lounge with the best of them too.  Nya nya nya.

Tuesday 25 November 2014

Magnus 25th November

Been a bit hectic recently.  I was right.  I did see a suitcase.  Ewen went to Paris, to some Paris Photo exhibition.  Left me with Pam.  Ho hum.  Got long walks, but mostly on the lead.  Now I know what it's like for Mirren.  Then we've had a new kitchen put in.  We had a few incidents with water so the old one needed replaced.  Now Ewen's painting.  Personally, I don't see what the fuss is about.  As long as I have my food, I really don't care about the decor.

Mirren 25th November

How many sleeps before I get off the lead???  Really need to run soon.  Big Boy got a taste of what's it's like on the lead.  That wiped the grin off his face.
As to the new kitchen, I think it's good to have a nice place to eat.  However, I have had to go on food strike.  They've been giving me Turkey food.  I really fancied Rabbit so I just stopped eating for 36 hours.  That got them running around, tempting me with tasty morsels.  Eggs, ham, fish. Just wanted a change of food.  It gets very tedious having the same thing ALL the time. I have a very refined palate after all.  So got Rabbit.  I like to keep them on their toes.
Must go.  I have a fur covered couch to go lounge on.  This requires skill.  I am VERY good at couch lounging.

Thursday 13 November 2014

Magnus 13th November

Been looking at some pictures of us when we were little.  Here's one of me and Ewen..  Always together and VERY outdoorsy.  I have to say that snow was very cold and, since I was little, my tummy was freezing.
Couldn't wait to get back in the car that day.  Love snow now.  Hasn't touched my tummy in a while.  I'm a big boy now, of course.
Pam keeps going on about how clever I am and how many words I understand.  Does she think we're all daft.  I have a new trick.  Ask out for a pee at 3am and don't come back in until I am offered some ham.  Clever.
Have a nasty feeling something is up.  I see a suitcase.

Mirren 13th November

THEY WENT TO SEE COLIN WITHOUT ME!!  Apparently they went to pay bills.  Mainly mine.  Pam says what they and the insurance have paid out this year would buy a small car!!  No idea what that's all about.
Just look at how cute I was as a puppy.
Pam has made new fleece covers for our downies.  I have always liked sleeping on a furry thing.  And it obviously started when I was young.  Princess and the Pea on all those folded beds.
I am, of course, the Princess.
As to Big Boy's intelligence quotient..............  I say nothing.  But she who controls with a velvet paw and sad eyes doesn't need all that stuff.

Tuesday 4 November 2014

Mirren 4th November

I have had to go back to the Royal Dick Vet again.  Nothing to worry about people.  I am fine.  They knocked me out again and x-rayed me, but all is well.  The plate in my leg has settled in nicely and my leg muscle has developed too.  Ewen took me up in Pam's car.  I knew right away where he was taking me because we left Big Boy at home.  I decided to have a re-run of the last time and howled, vociferously, the whole way there and back.  I then treated everyone to absolute Coventry for taking me back up there.  I might not be the brightest dog, according to the Telegraph IQ test, but I REALLY know how to make people pay.

Magnus 4th November

Ho-hum.  She'll be getting off the lead again soon.  Five more weeks.  I'll need to get in some serious playing with Ewen before she gets loose again.  Walks have been so peaceful and organised when she's on the lead.  One good point is.......I won't have to keep giving her the best sleeping spots anymore, because she's not well.  She's fine.  So, time to reassert myself as top dog.  After Ewen that is.  Oh and maybe Pam.  Maybe!!

Tuesday 28 October 2014

Magnus 28th October

Not a lot to report this week. Pam's been nagging Ewen about putting up some pictures from our trip.
Oh and also...I'm intelligent.  Witch face says with a head as big as mine there has to be something in it.  I had to do the dog intelligence test from the Telegraph.  I understand lots of words.  I can understand changes in tone of voice.  I always know when Ewen calls "Magnus" in that certain way, he's going to wash my bum.  I remember people and greet them properly.   I know what toy behaviour is etc etc.  I'm quite a bright chap, actually.  Must be 'cause I'm five.  I also know when to use an apostrophe properly.

Mirren 28th October

Still getting over not seeing Colin.  Didn't do so well in the test Big Boy's talking about but then I didn't make an effort.  It just asked things that puts the humans in charge.  I AM in charge and do things my way.  Pam said she hoped I wasn't the type to sit up the back of class brushing my hair and checking my make up.  As if!  Oh, and if someone throws a nice, soft, cosy blanket over you, why would you want to shake it off?  And I can use punctuation too.

Tuesday 21 October 2014

Magnus 21st October

I am now five.  I was five on the 9th, but we've been away.  We went to Kintyre, to a place called Claonaig. I went on the ferry again.  This time to Gigha.  We all went for a round of golf with Ewen.  I know to keep out of the way and lie down when someone is about to hit the ball.  Mirren gets a bit agitated.  I think she wants to chase the ball.  Not good.  Apparently one of the past dogs, Max, decided to try and nick the ball just as Ewen was about to drive off.  Colliding with a driver, in full down swing, is quite dangerous I believe.  Max wasn't very well for a while.  We actually went round a few courses. Tarbert was another.
The house we stayed in was lovely, but it had wooden floors.  I am not good with slippy floors.  I'm a wee bit scared I Bambi on them.  I try to walk on my claw tips.  By the end of the week I'd got to grips with the floor.  Literally.  Not a problem.  You just have to take your time.
I slept really well.  Must be the change of air.

Mirren 21st October

And I am now four.  My birthday was the 16th.  I'm still on the lead.  We went to the vet yesterday for a wee checkup.  Colin was off sick.  I was devastated.  I had even brushed my hair (what's left) for him.  Harry was nice but my hopes had been dashed.  Magnus was shaking, as usual.  Harry is just back from Mongolia.  I have no idea where that is but I think it must be a long way away.  Harry goes, every year, to make sure the horses are okay, in a cross country, long distance ride.
Yes, we've been on holiday again.  I chilled out a lot.  Not being able to run on the beaches and the golf courses was horrible.  The house was fabulous and very comfortable.  Big Boy was scared to put his paws anywhere and shook a lot.  Pam and Ewen had to put our downies along the floor, like a carpet runner, for him.  He is still rubbish at piers and quays too.  Can't walk on to a ferry, has to be in the car.
We were both very much admired everywhere we went.  People didn't mention my bald bits which was polite of them.  These bare bits can get quite chilly.  I'm glad my hair is growing back in.

Wednesday 8 October 2014

Mirren Oct 8th

Feeling a bit fed up.  Magus is getting to run about and do what he wants.  I have to walk everywhere.  Saw a rabbit the other morning.  Couldn't get off the lead.  Magnus is hopeless.  A rabbit could sit up in front of him and he'd miss it.  I give up.  Pam is being kind.  She knows what it's like to be a bit sore in the joints in the morning.  My only fun is seeing Magnus getting his bum washed.  Why don't boys squat lower and then it wouldn't stick.  He's so white you can see his bum get dirty.  He can sense when Ewen is going to get him.  It must be the way he says, "Magnus, want some ham?" and the shut doors.  Anyway, it was a pleasure to know some one felt as shitty as I do.  OH! That was a pun!!

Magnus 8th October.

I have no idea why she had to tell you that.  It's SO personal.  I can't help it.  I'm always more interested in other things and move off too quickly.
Moving on.  Yes, it is great she's under control.  I even get to play, uninterrupted, outside, with Ewen and toys.  Fantastic.
I don't know why she's moaning.  I've had a rough time too.  It's been very wet.  How is a big dog to dry his nose properly?  I, personally, favour the "wiping your nose on the sofa, between the cushions and the base" method.  It does mess up the cushions a bit but I don't know what the song and dance is about. I get a nice dry nose.  So what if the sofas look a mess.  Mirren says sofas are for lying and doing yoga on!!  Well yes.  That too.  But when you have an itch or have a wet nose!!!!!!   I rest my case.

Monday 29 September 2014

Mirren September 29th

Still confined to barracks.  I am getting walked but on the lead and I have to take it easy.  I am a bit embarrassed by my haircut.  Pam says she understands how a bad hairdo can just lower your self esteem.  I try to be brave, but it depresses me a bit.  I know it'll grow back soon but I'm used to shaggy, "just got out of bed" hair.  I am always amazed at women who shave their heads for charity.  They are so brave.   I know they do it for a good cause by I stand in awe of their confidence.  It gets very chilly.
Anyway, Big Boy has been quite pleasant.  He lets me have his bed and walks on the outside of me to hide my bald bits.  He has been quite kind.  A bit of a gentleman actually.  I am also getting free rein/reign (both do) of the furniture.  I have to be comfortable.  I'm becoming quite adept at the sad, pathetic eye thing.

Magnus September 29th

Life is great.  I get to run about like a a puppy, unattacked by Witch Face, who is on a lead.  It's great.  Ewen throws sticks and stones and she's not showing off how fast she is. I get to run and retrieve and win every time.  I'm letting her have the big bed just now.  She needs to stretch her legs.  But she's getting much better so I'll need to assert myself again.  Mind you, if she's on my bed, Pam and Ewen, acknowledging my  chivalrous behaviour,  let me on theirs.  Perhaps I'll forget the asserting bit!
She's eating a lot more after her op and funny mood time so there's not a lot left for me to grab from her dish.  On the other hand she's probably stuffing her face just to punish me for being fit. Women.  Just never get to grips with the way their minds work.  I have secret guffaw at her bald bits.  Ha-ha.  Who's in charge now?  Might as well enjoy it while I can.

Saturday 13 September 2014

September 13th  Mirren

Well, I'm home.  Pam and Ewen picked me up on Thursday night.  They came in Pam's car because they thought it was lower and Ewen could sit in the back with me.  Ha!  Showed them.  I told them off the whole way home.  Howled and screamed at them until we got home.  Payback is so sweet.  Pam said she was happy she was deaf in one ear.  Magnus greeted me warmly but I give him a snarl just in case he had something to do with it all.
I look like a badly cut Poodle.  My right hip and leg have been shaved but I have a hairy paw.  It's all rather odd and Pam says it'll probably itch as it grows back in.  She mentioned something about bikini lines but I'm not sure about what they are.
I am happy to be home but I have to have lots of little walks rather being able to run.  I am so going to miss being able to run.  I'm sure Olympic athletes must feel like this when they get injured.  All the pent up energy.  Not that I'm an athlete of that standard but Colin says I have have really low heart and lung rate.  A sign of a fit animal.  Talking of fit animals...I get to go and see Colin again...............Every cloud has a silver lining!
And don't forget the pate treats.  The guilt must be really gettng to Pam and Ewen!

Tuesday 9 September 2014

Tuesday 9th September

Magnus

All is peaceful at the ranch.  Mirren isn't here.  Got to sleep in my own bed last night without her chucking me off it.  Anyway, she's in hospital.  At the vet hospital in Edinburgh.  Pam calls it the Dick Vet.  It's old name apparently.  We all went there on Monday.  I had to go back to the car.  I could smell vets a mile off and the floor was very tricky looking.  I just shook so Ewen took me back to the car.  Mirren hasn't come out yet.  She has cranial cruciate disease.  She's getting her right leg fixed.  I hope she doesn't have to go to an airport because she'll set off the alarms if she does.  Metal bit in her leg.  She'll have to take it easy for six months.  Pam and Ewen are quite concerned but I find the extra floor space attractive and Ewen and I have been paddling and playing in the river this morning.  Mirren doesn't like water.  That could be a problem because swimming will be good therapy for her leg.  Ha ha!!!

You can Facebook the hospital on https://www.facebook.com/dickvet
Pam and Ewen say it's really good there so hopefully my chum will be well looked after and I'll see her soon.

I've been at the vet too.  Jabs and a lumpy bit in my neck.  Fatty lump!!??? I don't think so.  I'm too fine a figure of a Wolfie to have a fatty lump for goodness sake.

Tuesday 2 September 2014

September 1st

Magnus

Ewen has been away for FIVE days!  I really miss him when he goes away.  He's a bit of me.  I can't sleep, I can't eat and I upchuck.  This really endears me to Pam, who has to clean it all up.  She has this big machine that seems to help.  Anyway, he's HOME.  I am so happy I could wet myself.  Just threw myself at him, put my paws round his neck and licked him to bits.  I can relax again.  Order is restored.  Things are how they should be.
Oh, and Mirren is wearing pants again.  She's been very quiet. Not too much bitching at me about this and that.  She must miss Ewen too.

Mirren

The boy's an idiot.  I am in season again.  I felt really awful yesterday.  Pam thought I was very ill.  I couldn't eat, I couldn't drink, I felt huge.  Still do.  Does my bum look big in these knickers? ( see video) And what about the boys then?  They seem to think it's perfectly all right to stick their noses where I don't want them.  Have they no manners?  Magnus does it, but then he's my chum and he can't do anything anyway.  He's had the snip.
Pam's had a bad time too what with Magnus being sick all over the place and me being a bit of a drama queen, but then I am allowed to get a bit off at my time of the 6/7month.  She had to keep getting the carpet shampooer out.
Moving on.  Ewen has been away and Magnus has, as usual, felt abandoned.  Please watch the video clip.  Can I also say that this happens if Ewen goes away for five minutes, nevermind five days.

Sorry all but cant get the video to down load properly ............

Sunday 17 August 2014

Magnus and Mirren Sunday 17th August

Magnus
A very varied and exciting week.  Pam has been away again which let me get comfy wumphy next to Ewen on the bed.  Slept like a puppy.  Had a bit of a time at the vet too.  My tummy has been off again and Ewen took Mirren and I to the vet.  I GAVE BLOOD.  I am officially a blood donor.  I am so proud.   I think I should have sticker.  "I was brave at the vet today" or " I didn't pass out at the vet today."  Something like that.  I did have a problem with the floor.  Couldn't get my feet straight.  Mirren was a bit of a slapper and flirted outrageously with Colin, one of the vets.  Feel I 've done something for the dog race.  Dog Blood Donor.  WOW!! Wonder how the doggie is that got mine??

Mirren
Yes, Pam has been away AGAIN and big boy got the bed first.  Pam ordered us new collars though.  Mine is beautiful.  Californian poppies.  Really suits my colouring.  His is nice too.  They came from a special lady in England who makes collars for doggies like Magnus and I - long neck in my case, big neck in his.

Kitch Collars .......  see link below.

www.kitschcollars.com

Anyway, Magnus's tummy was off so Ewen took us to the vet.  OOOOOOh. He is lovely.  I just adore Colin the Vet.  Ewen gave me a row for flirting.  Magnus got a row from the vet nurse for walking on his tipclaws in the surgery.  Silly boy nearly Bambi-ed on the lino.  He should just have put his paws firmly on the ground.  They're big enough after all.  He'd be fine.  I had my eye checked out again (bit of a rash) and my hip.  Pam and Ewen were worried it was hip dysplasia.  It's not.  Might be I bruised my elbow when I was a puppy and it's gone bit stiff.  Magnus has plaque.  Ha-ha.  That's probably upsetting his tummy.  All that bacteria.  It'll serve him right for poor mouth hygiene.  The main story is that when we were both out for the count, we both gave blood to a poor dog who wasn't well.  I am so proud.  Colin saw me be brave.  Okay I was unconscious at the time, but I was generous and gave freely.  It should be in the papers you know.  Humans get rewards for giving blood.  I didn't even get a bone.  Or a cup of tea and a biscuit.  Cheapskates!!!
Pam's home.  Relief.  The kitchen flooded when she was away.  We were at the vet.  I don't know why she goes away.  Things just happen when she's not around!!!

Wednesday 6 August 2014

Magnus August 6th

It's raining again.  Great.  Don't like it too hot.  I have to pant a lot.  Not been a great few days for me.  My tummy has been off and I've trouble with wind.  Personally it doesn't bother me that much but it seems to upset others.  I must have eaten something I shouldn't have.  Been on rations for a few days now.  Anyway, a lot better.  Hopefully I'll get some ham again soon. Mean time we just sleep in comfort !!!!
It was a busy week for Pam and Ewen last week.  Lauder Common Riding.  Lots of horses going about the town.  I was in the Fancy Dress competition one year.  Won first prize.  I looked very handsome apparently.  We have pictures to prove it.

Mirren August 6th

Thank goodness for rain.  I just keep out of the sun.  It really isn't good for our skin and I just get too hot.  I stay in now.  Magnus goes out and lies beside Ewen.  Twit!

Wind??? That's a joke.  I had to get out of my bed and move the smell was so bad.  Pam says I have to be nice.  He has colitis.  But he could at least go somewhere away from us to pass wind.  It really is the most awful smell.  Pam and Ewen burn candles when it's bad.  He has to take pills and live on rice, eggs and fish for a few days.  That'll teach him to mooch food.  He's meant to be a special diet but he scrounges bits of everybody and they don't know about his "sensitive tummy".  Attention seeking behaviour again, I think.
AND IF I HEAR ABOUT WINNING THAT FANCY DRESS ONCE MORE I WILL EAT HIS PRIZE CUP!!

Monday 28 July 2014

Magnus July 28th.

Hot again today.  I'm not sure which annoys me more, the heat or the sound of the fan Pam leaves on to cool us down.  Ewen is taking us out for walks at some really early time in the morning.  He is very good doing this because we can run about when it is still quite cool.  He takes lots of pictures too.  This morning Mirren chased a deer.  I  joined in to help.  I am now VERY tired and have to go and lie down again.  Pam says I only chased after the deer because I saw venison sausages.  This is not true at all.  I do like them though!

Mirren July 28th.

Chase a deer!!! Huh.  Honestly that guy would have trouble catching a bus.  He just isn't built for speed.  I, on the other hand, am.  I move like a rocket.  Smooth, locked on target, fast.  I am a thing of beauty when I run.  Pam says so. Anyway, have to go lie down.  I think I pulled a muscle in my leg.  Getting a bit stiff.  I can't tell Magnus.  He'll just throw in some comments about my age.  He doesn't realise that ladies don't discuss their age.  It isn't an acceptable topic of conversation.

Saturday 19 July 2014

Magnus July 18th

Pam has been away again.  Ewen decided to get up really early in the morning so he could get work done uninterrupted.  It also meant we were taken for walks early too.  It was great.  Out in the mist and early morning rain.  Lovely.  We walked for miles and when we came home I was really tired and would just sleep all day.  Pam being away has meant I've been sharing the bed with Ewen.  I have allowed him enough space to sleep comfortably.  It is a very large bed but I am a very large dog and I like to stretch out.  Human beds are just so comfy and I can get off them easily.  I just roll to the side and stand up.  Doddle!!

Mirren July 18th.

I missed not having another female in the house but to be honest, as long as I am walked, fed, and showed love I'm always quite relaxed.  I mean it's good to have her/him back but....    Magnus, on the other hand becomes a whimpering idiot when Ewen is away.  It really is quite strange how attached he is.  Anyway, they've been playing Cowboys and Indians up the hills.  Magnus is now Big Chief Long Feather !!  What can I say?  They tried to involve me by calling me Mirren Ha-ha but I was having none of it.  Ha-ha!!!  Really.  They need to grow up.   I don't know how a dog as big as Magnus and Ewen, who has many dog years, carry on like this.  Pam is much more dignified.  While she was away Magnus took over her side of the bed.  I took over Magnus's bed.  When Pam came back she took her side of the bed back.  I'm keeping Magnus's bed.  Occupancy and all that.

We also wanted to mention "Dukey the dog's last day" (look it up).  Hope all dogs have this much love.   We still have Morganistmus.

Monday 7 July 2014

Early Mornings on Lauder Hill.

Magnus July 7th

Been getting up really early the past week or so.  Ewen takes us up the hills at about 5am.  We run about, look at deer and sniff for rabbits.  We don't catch anything but the thrill is there.  Anyway, I think the rabbits know what they are doing and just play with us for a bit of exercise.  Ewen takes some pictures and then we go back home to bed. I think Ewen manages to catch my good side.  My tongue looks nice and pink too.

Mirren is usually steaming when we get back.  This is not the Scottish meaning of "steaming".  It means hot air rises off her, not that she has been par-taking of alcohol.  Home and back to sleep until normal hours.  It's great.  I dream a lot about the rabbits.  Pam says I run even longer because I still chase them in my sleep.

Mirren July 7th

Yes.  I agree.  These early morning jaunts are right up my street.  We saw three deer playing tig the other morning.

Ewen wouldn't let me join in.  I thought this was a bit mean.  He said I wouldn't be playing tig and it wouldn't be fair.  I get to really run. I get very hot.  Not like Magnus, who rarely goes above a gentle trot.  I really run.  However, I do like stopping for a bit of salad every now and again.  Then back to my bed for a nice long lie.  Pam and I are very similar.  We both REALLY like our beds. Anyway. rest is good for us girlies.

Irish Guards

Magnus 25th June.

Well.  It appears someone in the Irish Guards has been reading our Blog.  Two years ago I won fancy dress in Lauder dressed in my red coat.  They were so impressed they copied it and made one for Domhnall, their new Wolfhound mascot.  He has VERY serious eyes.  I think we both look handsome.
Excuse my alien ears in the second picture. Something walked in front of me and I didn't want my coat to get dirty so I jumped back.  Must keep the dress uniform clean.

Mirren 25th June.

Will we never be allowed to forget that fancy dress prize.  On and on and on and on about it.  Here I am modelling my Sherlock Holmes tweed coat.  I didn't feel the photographer was catchng my right side so I just trotted back into the house.
As to what frightened Magnus.  I thnk it was a beetle.  Honestly, the littlest things flies, wasps, beetles, tadpoles all give him the biggest fright.  He is such a woose. Domhnall wouldn't have been bothered.  But he's in the army.

Tuesday 10 June 2014

Mirren June 10th

Having a nice relaxing day today.  Yesterday we went to visit Seacliffs.
We haven't been since I was a puppy.  Last time we went the beach had been washed away and was just all stones.
Now it's lovely and sandy again.  Had a gorgeous day running about, inbetween rain and sun.  Really enjoyed myself. I've had a bit of a sore leg and the soft sand was pleasant on my joints.
Despite the pain I managed to show Magnus who is boss and regularly took the ball and rope of him.  Girl power.  Bit rough on the way home in the back of the car.  Drinking the odd bit of seawater makes Magnus really pass wind.  The smell is fairly toxic.  He never seems to notice.  Must be my more feminine sense of smell.

I love the seaside.  If I go paddling bossy paws leaves me alone.  She absolutely hates getting her paws wet.  Ran about a lot.  We even climbed cliffs and I went up quite high and I didn't get dizzy.

I even looked over the edge of the harbour.  I was very brave.  I made Ewen proud, I think.  I notice she hasn't mentioned this in her bit.  WE played quite a while on the beach with the ball and rope.  She's much better than running than I am but I'm stronger.  I just let her have the ball to shut her up.

Then I helped Ewen cook lunch.  Mmmmmmmm Tuna.  Slept well last night.

May 20th

Mirren May 20th
Been a busy fortnight.  Ewen went a way to Spain for six days.  Big boy was a mess for two days.  Weeping, moaning, pining, being sick.  What a wimp.  We had Pam's sister and brother-in-law staying, Linda and Ken.  Linda sounded like Pam so I felt very comfortable.  Ken was very good with Magnus and actually got him to cross a bridge.  Three times!!!  Magnus perked up with another male around.  We had one moment of Magnusism.  He was 'goosed' by a bullock.  Never seen him move so fast in my life.  Shot off like a rocket.  Boy he can move when he wants.  Wouldn't have tried to stop him.  Pam found it hysterically funny.
This week he's surpassed himself.  We went to St Abbs and Coldingham for the day.  Magnus was terrified of the harbour.  Wouldn't walk round it with Ewen and I.  Just stood and quaked.  We stopped for a nibble at the cafe and Pam shared a chip or two with me.  Magnus was still recovering and missed out. Ha ha.  He was, as usual, fine on the beach.  Chased a ball.  Showed off for the crowds.  Stopped the traffic in Melrose.  That sort of thing.  I was above it all and just looked beautiful.

It's not funny.  I get very stressed when Ewen leaves me.  Even for 10 minutes.  He is my hero.  I just miss him for a couple of days. Till I forget.  Absence makes a fond heart etc etc.  When he came home I gave him a HUGE welcome.  Put my paws up round his neck.  Licked his face.  Whimpered pathetically.  Showed him how much I cared.  It was nice seeing Linda and Ken again but I miss Ewen.  He is the only person I hug.
It wasn't nice at St Abbs harbour.  I just looked over the edge and got a big fright.  It was a long way down and I didn't feel safe.  Came over all shakey and queasy.  Mirren didn't mind.  Chomped on chips with Pam.  I notice she's not mentioning how she embarrassed Pam at Coldingham beach.  She pooed.  Right in front of a family.  Pam had to poo bag it as they watched.  She said it was a "Marley and Me" moment, whatever that was.  We had icecream in Melrose.  Fantastic.  A woman stopped her car to say she was really short sighted and had thought I was a polar bear.  Bit concerned about the driving thing if she thought I was a polar bear!!!
