Mirren 31st March
It's been quite a quiet week. Despite the weather in England being warm, it's been cold, wet and foggy here. Both Magnus and I have been a tad damp on several occasions in the past few days. It gives me bed head. This time two years ago year I was sun bathing. Last year we had snow. Where is global warming going to end? As long as we don't get floods. I really do not like getting wet.
Pam is sneezing. Think she's got a cold. Will keep away from her I think.
Magnus 31st March
Been for a long walk with Ewen to Ancrum. St Cuthbert's Way. Lovely walk. I wonder if any of my Irish ancestors walked this way?

Had a great time on Friday. Ewen took us to Melrose and we walked along the river. Hit a wee problem though. Magnus won't cross the bridge. In fact not just this bridge. ANY bridge. I suspect that he's either read "Tam O'Shanter" or thinks he's a witch!!
After that we did some shopping at the market at East Fortune. Pam says you must take every opportunity to fit in some shopping. I also think she likes walking around showing us off.
Magnus 24th March
Yes we had a fabulous time at the beach and yes I don't like bridges I can see through but I have more pressing issues to talk about.
Apparently some Wolfies attacked an actor, Tim McInnerny. I am shocked. We are usually placid guys unless taken by surprise. Even then it depends. I remember a surprise attack by a pack of tadpoles. It really was very frightening and I ran way. I didn't bite back. Not that I'm belittling what happened to Mr McInnerny. It would be really scarey having a pack of me-s running after you.
I'm not making excuses ( Well I am, but just a wee bit) but it is very odd. Maybe they thought it was a surprise game?? Just don't understand. This is so unlike us. I hope the dog that bit him apologised. We are not dangerous dogs and we really shouldn't be seen as such. Heavens, Yorkies are scarier than me!! Show me a couch and I'll show you what a Wolfhound is best at.

March 17th Mirren
Tried to go for a run in Pam's car yesterday. What a to do. Magnus went in to go the walk but then wouldn't get back in to come home. He RAN AWAY! Scared stiff he was. Behaved like a wee puppy. I jumped in and watched him. What a woose!
March 17th Magnus
I totally object to her telling people this. I am entitled to get in what I want. Being a big guy, I know the spaces that make me feel comfortable and Pam's boot isn't one of them.
Anyway, back to more important things. I felt really sorry for that poor dog with the Amy Winehouse hairdo, at Crufts last week. Even if he did win. Don't people remember we were dogs before shows and went around as ourselves. Au naturel. Didn't take to the Samoyed because we've always had a thing about them Apparently, the first family dog, Max, had an ongoing battle with a neighbour's Samoyed and the distrust has passed on to us all. Not sure about Mirren's view but I got it from Monty, who got it from Mick, who got it from Max. He did look quite friendly though. Loved the Retriever, he was a fine specimen and then, of course, there was James. He was just magnificent. Looked a wee bit as if he was thinking about his couch at home, by the final. He'd had busy days and I know how much we need our sleep. It would have been nice to see one of us big guys win but James did us proud whatever. He stole the show. But then we are very biased.
Love you James. You rule KO!!

Mirren
Hello again. It's been a while since we blogged. What's happened? Well, the house was eventually finished. It's nice and fresh now. Of course the first thing Magnus did was throw up on the new carpet, not once but twice and in different spots. Anyway, it was lovely for Christmas. I showed my intelligence and opened our presents. Magnus tried but couldn't. He is too ham-pawed. I received a lovely new drinking mug. I like something more refined than a bowl. The weather has been wet and windy but with no snow. At least we haven't been flooded like those poor pets in the south. Magnus wouldn't have coped. He hates getting his tummy wet. I'm not fond of getting wet either (see Oct 15th) I just do not see the point. No one puts Baby in the shower!!
Anyway, we've been away a few times too. We went up to "The Isles of Glencoe" in October. Great time. We spent time in Glen Etive and up at Arisaig. Magnus and I were both very tired when we got home. For Ewen's birthday we went to "Roman Camp" in Callendar. Really lovely hotel, dog friendly and with lots of walks. Apparently, the Pets can have amazing food there. Then we went off to Kentallen in February. Pam found "The Holly Tree" hotel. When we got there we had our own lodge, which was splendid. Plenty of room for relaxing. I like staying in hotels and seeing new places. It seems very grown up and you have to remember your manners and be on your best behaviour. All very glamorous.
I feel very at home in this part of the country. All these hills and glens. They have deer. Stirs something in my soul.
Magnus
Hi everyone. Been busy. Arisaig was great. Ran away from Pam and Ewen on the Machair. I wanted to stay. There's something about a beach that I really like. Had to leave though. They got in the car and I was scared they'd leave me without any ham.
Got great new, big, indestructible squeakies for Christmas. Loads of fun. Mirren always seems to want the one I've got. When Pam and Ewen throw them around the house she always tries to beat me and if she doesn't, she demands the toy I have. She gets really grabby and nippy. Mind you, she was really grabby and nippy a few weeks ago. She kept clinging on to Ewen. She was wearing these funny things Pam called knickers. Caused a few comments but I wasn't enquiring too much about them. Anyway, she's told you about "Roman Camp" and "Holly Tree." The hotels were lovely but I enjoyed seeing the new places with Ewen best of all.
I need to go now. I'm watching "Crufts." One of my distant, distant relatives won the Hounds group. I'm hoping he'll do well in the "Best in Show" part. He should. Like me, he has magnificent stature and a very gentlemanly air. He's a lot greyer than me but then I am very fair.
We had someone come calling at the door last week. When she saw me, she was rendered speechless. That's the effect we have on people. They are just stunned at my manly appearance.
