Magnus 30th August

It's getting cooler again and I can sleep easier.  Been over at New Abbey again.  I love it down there.  I get to run through the grounds and down to the burn at the bottom of the field.  No bullocks in the field this time.  Still a lot of tourists but all quite friendly.
Bit of an incident at the weekend.  Mirren decided to lose her cool over some gunshots.  The girl really needs to calm down and ignore them.  She just wants to run home all the time.  Poor Pam got very distressed.

Well, I can't help it.  MY hearing is still 100% so I REALLY hear those bangs.  Big Boy just ambles on as if he hasn't heard them.  Probably hasn't.  I just wanted to get home as quickly as possible.  I didn't realise this meant crossing a road so many times.  Poor Pam had to deal with me pulling her to get home on one arm, while Big Boy just wanted to sniff every blade of grass on the mile and a half home, on the other arm.  She had to put us back on the leads because I kept running homewards and she was worried about cars and lorries.  I think we tired her out.  She told Ewen her arms were considerably longer than they were.

Magnus 23rd August

I am very, very hot.  Can't stop panting at night.  It's very close.  Can't sit outside. just warm and heavy air.  Pam has put out my cool beds and I LOVE them now.  Very relaxing.  Plus they've been throwing wet tea towels over my head.  The fan is left on at night.  Tad worried though because Pam thinks I might be allergic to my food.  Not been farting and everything seems to be ok but she worries.

I have to admit it is very oppressive.  It rained last night so it is a wee bit better today.  I think it's our fur coats that make it worse.  Big Boy doesn't settle easy either.  I find a cool spot and meditate, stay calm and cool,  He paces about, panting, until he is t-towelled.  He looks like a dog from Lawrence of Arabia, if they'd had dogs over there.  I think that really would be hot.  Anyway, it'll soon be Christmas and everyone will be complaining about the cold----apart from Magnus and I.

Magnus 8th August

Well, that's Common Riding over for another year.  Morganistmus next then Christmas. Pam decided to show us how we would have looked if she had taken us into fancy dress.  I think I look quite good.  Bitch Face doesn't like getting dressed up unless it involves diamonds and pearls.  Took us a while to get one decent shot of her.  Anyway, lots of horses on Saturday and every-one was very busy since it is the main day of the week.  To compensate for the short walks, Pam and Ewen took us for a real hike on Sunday.  A tad tired when I got home.

I got in the door and lay down.  I had run about and walked for miles.  Thoroughly enjoyed it too.
I don't get dressing up at all.  People shouldn't do it to dogs.  Magnus secretly enjoys it, I'm sure.  I think he gets it from Uncle Mike, who was his partner last time he went in.  Uncle Mike LOVES dressing up.  Fine if they want to look like something else.  I am perfect the way I am.  If Pam wants to embellish me with jewels, she can.  But that is it!!

Magnus 2nd August

It's Common Riding in Lauder this week.  Today is the famous Lauder fancy dress.  I have won it in the past, dressed as the Irish Guards' mascot.  Not going in this year, although it has been mentioned.  Pam says she has too much to carry!  She wouldn't be carrying me, of course, but her hands all seem to be occupied!

Mirren 2nd August

We'll never hear the end of that.  Actually, Pam and the group she's in have won often.  So there.  She's  going in again this year.  I am sure they will be spectacular as usual.  I would join her but the crowds get to me.  She said I would be perfect as her battle dog.  Magnus would too because he looks more the part, but I don't think I could be bothered standing around in a crowd for a couple of hours.  Comfort and warmth are more my thing.  I think I'd rather stay in bed.  Magnus is the attention seeker even though he plays the "Big, shy boy".  He can do it if he wants!!!!
