Magnus 30th December

Nearly into the new year.  Been away at Roman Camp for Christmas.  It was great fun.  Arrived Christmas Eve and left on the 27th.  Went with Lexi and Ray and the bouncy one, Murphy.  I think the Two-Legs did a lot of eating and drinking.  We got some lovely presents from our friends.  We already have our new coats.  We got biscuits and pancakes and sausage pancakes and turkey and chicken.  It was really good.  I was very well behaved when we went a walk to Kilmahog and we spent a while in The Lade pub, there.  Murphy was with us and the boy got a lot of attention.  I did too, being such a magnificent animal.

Mirren 30th December

Yes, Santa was very good to us and Big Boy was very well over Christmas.  Despite a real mixture of food he didn't really fart that much.  I was very well behaved.  In fact I was the best behaved of the three dogs.  Murphy barked a lot at the hotel, I didn't, I was quiet.  Both Murphy and Magnus have attention seeking behaviour and need to be patted, spoken over and admired.  Pam tells me I am beautiful and that's all that I need.  I have to say though, Murphy is much better with young people than Magnus is.  Magnus can't be bothered with excited young people.  Murphy is really good with them.  Pam thinks he should work with young people.  I couldn't do that.  I prefer the peace of my bed.

Magnus 23rd December

Feeling a tad tired.  I'm afraid all this walking is taking it out of me.  I just trot along at my own pace of course but it's still a lot for me.  Plus we had a visit from Murphy.  That boy has so much bounce.  Even his coat bounces. Then Pam and Ewen had people in for dinner and Luther came too.  He's a very laid back chap.  Quiet.  Envy his ability to lie under the table and catch stuff.  I am too big for that and I always get caught.

Mirren 23rd December

Long walk with Pam, Ewen, Fiona, George and Luther this morning.  Pam was there so I had to stay by her.  Must have miffed Luther because when he came to visit I tried to show him my bed but he was too interested in our toys and the dining table  to pay me much attention.  Came back to the sitting room and lay in my day bed and watched him.  He is so laid back.  Gaulish charm I suppose.

Magnus 18th December

It's raining. And it's raining.  Suppose this is what happens when you live in Scotland.  However, due to our long, morning walks with Luther, if the afternoon is wet, we get a short walk and then I can sleep in front of the fire, or on my furry rug, or on their bed.  I'm always a tad peckish too so Ewen has become very generous, on the sly, with the pancakes.  She's not allowed so many.  Too fat.  It's a hard life.

Mirren 18th December

I'm having a fabulous time with Luther.  He is so much fun.  And, of course, he's French. Oh la la!  He is smaller than me but really sweet and a perfect gentleman.  To make things even better he's been told he's a tad chubby.  I'm so pleased.  We've been chatting about our love for food and about dieting.  How difficult it is.  It's so nice to have someone to chat to.  Big Boy can eat tons and never seems to put on weight.  He just doesn't understand.

Tuesday 11 December 2018

Magnus December 11th

Been quiet.  Big walks with Ewen.  Then he stops for a coffee.  Met a new pal called Luther.  He's French but we communicate really well.  Nice guy.  He keeps witch face happy.  Been getting combed a lot.  Not my scene but it does get rid of the clumps.

Mirren December 11th

Luther est vraiment magnifique.  He lets me run around and play with him....in a nice way.  He's a spaniel.  Nice ears.  My ears are perfect.  They've been getting combed and brushed.  As I was telling Luther yesterday, I am a model too.  Pam has been given models of Magnus and I by her chum Moira.  The one of me is perfect.  I look amazing.  Must show Luther.  Being French, he'll understand the need to be chic!

Magnus December 5th

I am famous.  The people who made my new coat were so pleased with Pam's review that they asked to see a picture.  And they really liked that.  They asked to use my picture on their Amazon website.  I am famous.
I wish I'd had it on last night.  I was cold.  I had to get up on the furry bedspread with Pam and Ewen.  Then Pam put a furry throw on me.  I was so cosy I didn't want to go for a walk.

Mirren December 5th

Actually, it is a really good picture of him.  Not saying any more.  The Christmas tree is up and Pam is getting very festive.  Christmas carols, cards, present wrapping.  All that stuff.  Ewen just goes along to keep her happy.  I personally see Christmas as a time of opportunity for food.  Turkey, sausages, stuffing, the odd pie.  You never know what might come your way.  Brilliant.

Magnus 28th November

New coats.  Mine is HUGE but keeps the rain off me.  I think I look very smart.  Pam says they are for Xmas but since it keeps pouring rain we get to wear them now.
Ewen has been in hospital.  I am very happy.  He is at home every day now.  With me.  I can get food when ever I want.  It's great.

Mirren 28th November

I have a very colourful orange coat.  I was very embarrassed when some woman pointed out it is a XXXXXL.  Pam assures me it's because I am a long dog and not because of my girth.  XL is probably for a chihuahua!  She made me feel better.  It is rather good to have Ewen at home all the time.  Pam's away at work so it's good to have someone at home.

Magnus November 12th

Just back from another exciting weekend at Roman Camp.  It was fabulous.  Love it there.  I had black pudding, sausages, chicken and pancakes and ham.  We had lovely walks and I crossed the bridge at Bracklinn Falls.  I didn't do it last time.  I was scared.  This time I just walked across.  I was very brave.

I ignored the peacocks and was very well behaved.  I need to comment on Tesco changing the shape of their cooked ham.  The round ham fit perfectly on my pancake.  Now it's square.  Mirren says to stop moaning as we actually get more ham.  It just doesn't look so neat.

Mirren November 12th
I have to admit, I do love Roman Camp.  One feels so well looked after.  The room is lovely and extremely comfortable.  The local walks are a tad more interesting than at home.  I mean we have the beautiful gardens to stroll round, with the peacocks to entertain us.  Then the walks to the falls are really pretty.  This time Big Boy crossed the bridge.  I was impressed.  Maybe it was because there were a lot of people and he was too embarrassed not to.  As to the change of shape of the ham!!!!!!!!!! Grief does the boy not realise what a good thing he's on to?

Tuesday 30 October 2018

Magnus 30th October

We've had snow.  It's been really cold.  I've now got a blue furry blanket to get cuddled into.  Pam and Ewen think I need to keep warm at night.  They think that now I'm older I might need a bit extra warmth. I had to get on the bed with them the other night.  I was a bit chilled.  It's alright when I'm moving about it's just in the wee hours that I get a bit cold.

Mirren October 30th

I get up and get curled up on one of the couches.  He's too big to get really relaxed. We have big beds but it has been frosty.  His blanket is really soft and fluffy.  I have a green one but he's let me share his, it's so big.  I wonder if I'll get a pink one?  Must go and give Pam a cuddle, maybe she'll take the hint.

Tuesday 23 October 2018

Magnus and Mirren 16th October.

We've been away and we both have had birthdays.  Magnus is now 9years old and Mirren is now 8years old.  They have been on their holidays to Claonaig on the east coast of Kintyre.  They've been before.  It did get a tad windy as storm Callum visited but it certainly gets the air around one's coat!!

Magnus

I love it up at Claonaig.  We slept downstairs this time.  The stairs are bit much for Mirren and I now.  Linda and Ken slept up there.  Pam, Ewen and we stayed downstairs. I lay out on the grass and sniffed the salt in the air.  It was brilliant.  We had lots of walks along the beach and on the hills.  We visited Arran and Gigha again.

A bit disappointed that the golf course on Gigha is now closed.  We went to chat to the fishermen in Campbelltown. The language got a bit fruity.  I collected stones at Skipness, visited the castle at Tarbert  and chatted to a lovely Spinone at Lochranza Castle.  It was all very exciting but I was exhausted when we got home.

Mirren

Nonsense, I could get up the stairs without a problem. Magnus's paws are just too big.  While he lay outside, I lay in front of the fire and warmed my tummy.  I had a bit of a scare with the wooden floor.  I "Bambi-ed".  It was a wee bit sore so I would only walk on carpet.  It was nice meeting Linda and Ken again.  They were good fun and Linda took us walks.  I found the wind a bit too strong.  It played havoc with my hair.  Just blew it everywhere.  However, a good shake and it would come back into it's gorgeousness again.

Sunday 30 September 2018

Magnus 30th September

That's another month closer to Christmas!!..  Pam has been working a lot.  I have just been eating a lot.  Mirren is getting annoyed because she's not allowed to finish my food any more.  Actually, there's not a lot left.  I am rather enjoying my food just now.  Could be the chicken, or the fish or the mince.  Given up the haggis for a bit.  Made me fart a lot.

Mirren 30th September

Can I just point out that I like to keep things tidy and leaving food lying in his dish is not tidy.  So I eat it to help Pam out.  No point in letting it go to waste.  I have also had to stop bin exploring.  They have put weights on top to stop me getting in and browsing any rich bones or fatty stuff that they may have thrown away.  Oh well, it means I will look better in my winter tweeds, I suppose!

Sunday 16 September 2018

Magnus 17th September

We had our fluorescent coats on yesterday.  And we've had on our torches.  It was chucking it down so the coats went on.  Mine fits me perfectly, which Pam and Ewen said was a good sign.  Other than that it's just been the usual eating, sleeping, walking, farting, barking at neighbours and barking at cats.  I am so much happier with this kind of weather.  Everyone else is complaining of the cold but I love it.  Can't wait for winter.

Mirren 17th September

I have been unwell.  Pam and Ewen can't decide if I picked something up or if I bin raked.  I'm not telling.  Magnus muttered something about me having a day off food would be a good thing???? I did a spectacular break in last week and managed to retrieve a corn on the cob.  Pam and Ewen nearly had heart attacks because they are really bad for dogs but I thought the quick lick I gave it tasted quite buttery.  Anyway, they got a fright and have barricaded the bin.  Big Boy might like the cold but no one else does.  Sometimes Ewen wraps me in my towel. I feel so cosy and princessy.  And my coat FITS ME!!!!!!

Monday 3 September 2018

Magnus 4th September

Well, you'll all be pleased to hear my stomach seems to be settling down, paws crossed.  In fact, I'm in such good shape the family went a long walk on Sunday.  It was great.  Really good smells and lots to sniff and pee on.  I had a great time.  Just trotted about and did my own thing.

Mirren 4th September

The walk was brilliant.  HA HA!  He's not mentioning getting chased by a couple of Yorkies or that he slept for ages as soon as we got home.  I have to admit that I did too but he was out of fit.  Snoring and snuffling away.  We went a walk Pam and Ewen used to go with the 3 Ms.  Up and down hill and along a valley.  Think we saw a mink at the side of the burn.  All very exciting.

Wednesday 29 August 2018

Magnus 29th August

We are IRON DOGS again.  It's dark in the morning when Ewen takes us out.  Pam has just fixed my lamp.  I love this time of year.  The lights give the rabbits a fright in the morning and Mirren gets to chase them.  She's fast but not fast enough.  On an important note, Ewen has started mixing some eggs in with my potatoes. Makes them nice and creamy.  We had a bit of a scare last weekend when I was sick.  Very sick.  Then Pam gave Ewen a row because he had let me lick his yoghurt and I'm not allowed lactose.  He remembered why!!!!  Pam was not happy.

Mirren 29th August

Well you can see Pam's point.  Ewen gave him the yoghurt and then went off to work.  Pam had to deal with the aftermath.  Then we had to go back to the vet. I am sad.  I don't think Colin is in much.  He's now the orthopaedic surgeon guy so he's always busy.  The potatoes are very nice but I don't get access to them much.  They have decided that since there is nothing wrong with me, apart from a few extra pounds, I don't need extra food.  I'm trying to tell them I need to stock up for the winter but they are just not listening.  That's why I have to try and catch rabbits.

Tuesday 21 August 2018

Magnus August 22nd

All quiet on the home front.  They are both at work.  Pam started back this morning.  It's funny, but I'm okay with them working.  It's just when Ewen doesn't come back at night, I panic.  My tummy seems to be getting better and I am eating a lot.  The parents are very impressed.  Mirren, of course, is fed up.  She hasn't got my dish to clean up now, because I am eating it all myself.

Mirren 22nd August

Actually, I am just keeping an eye on my diet.  I have been putting a bit on round the back end and I don't want it there much longer.  He is eating better though, which is good for us all,  We've not been near the beach or the river though.  Pam has a deep suspicion the water at these places set his tummy off.  And then it becomes such a drama!!!

Tuesday 14 August 2018

Magnus 14th August

Not been well.  World fell out of my bottom.  Not nice.  I was very stressed.  Ewen went away golfing and left me behind.  I was really, REALLY upset.  Pam tried very hard and made me all my favourite things but to no avail.  She had to call the vet out on a Sunday.  I seem to have hurt my back and hips.  Vet said something about hydrotherapy.  I asked Mirren about this and she says if it's a therapy it must involve a spa.  She thinks it might have something to do with water.  I don't mind water as long as it doesn't go past my tummy.  Much happier since Ewen came home and now I feel much better.  Pam still looks a bit exhausted.

Mirren 14th August

I kept out of the way.  He was awful.  Sick.  Diapoo LOTS.  Wouldn't eat.  Hurt his back squatting so much.  Vet lovely.  Helen Bradley from Galedin vets.  She came and sorted him out and then Ewen came home and the world was right again.  Personally, I think it is very attention seeking behaviour.  Like all women I just get on with things.  Or maybe he just panics in case Ewen leaves him behind.  I don't know.  Pam walks us, feeds us, cuddles us and it's her we go to if we're not well but he just pines for Ewen.  His hero.  Off to bed to rest. Stressed by the mention of hydrotherapy for me too.  Apart from a deep massage this girl is not going near a spa and getting wet is not an option.

Tuesday 7 August 2018

Magnus 7th August

This wild boar thing is going well.  I received a parcel of new dog food this morning.  Its wild boar dog food.  Based on the diet of wolves.  Took me a few seconds to check it out.  I let Mirren try it first just in case it was dodgy.  She chomped down right away so I gave it a shot.  Splendid stuff.  Grain free.  Wild boar, chicken and berries? Who knew.  Anyway, I'll let you know how my stomach and the new food get along.  Pam says I have to introduce it slowly into my diet.  Personally, I could just stick my head in the bag.  Wolf of the Wilderness I salute you.

Mirren 7th August

Every time his stomach goes weird we get to try new food to try and settle it.  It's as if, after a year, his stomach goes off what he's been eating and has to move on.  I can't complain.  This stuff is rather tasty.  He wouldn't touch it till I had.  Came and watched me eat some and then went back through and asked Ewen if he could try it too.  Boy is not adventurous with food at all.  I, on the other hand, will give just give anything a go.  Common Riding is over.  The group Pam is in won first prize.  Ewen went dancing on Saturday and can hardly walk now.  Apparently, he thought he was 20 and at a rock festival.  Pam was impressed.

Monday 30 July 2018

Magnus 30th July

It's Common Riding week.  All these ride out things are very historical and very Borders.  I remember one year I went into fancy dress and won.  I was with Uncle Mike.  Anyway, my bloods are fine and I seem to be feeling a lot better.  Eating well and Pam has discovered 100% wild boar strips.  I NEVER get treats because of my funny tummy.  I LOVE these.  I was dreaming, last night, about chasing wild boar in a forest, with a pack of my family.  Must have been from a previous life.  It was so exciting.  Everyone was shouting, "Sanglier. "  That means wild boar in French.

Mirren 30th July

I really don't want to hear about him and fancy dress again.  After many years it is just tedious.  The boar strips are amazing.  I've also tasted the dried duck and the lamb but Pam and Ewen are worried Big Boy won't be able to digest them properly so he doesn't get them.  You know, Pam has been talking about these books about Asterisk and Obelix.  Obelix sounds like Magnus, big and powerful but gentle.  Sensitive and shy.  And adores wild boar.  I'm more like Asterisk.  Intelligent!

Wednesday 25 July 2018

Magnus 25th July

Been away to Roman Camp, in Callander, for Pam's birthday.  It appears a good time was had by all.  My tummy is still off and I've to go back to the vets.  Ewen has had to do poo samples for me.  Pam's been hinting about blood tests.  Was right off my food again, but they've been letting me try egg whites, potatoes and gluten free haggis--yum yum yummy yum.  That made me eat.  Very tasty.  I even had some chef cooked cod at the hotel.  Will keep you informed.

Mirren 25th July

Pam had a lovely time at the hotel and apparently loved the food.  Magnus and I had our own travelling beds, a sitting room of our own and a door right into a lovely garden.  Because it was warm Pam and Ewen left the door open all night.  Something spooked me.  Had to sleep on their bed just to be safe.  Magnus didn't bat an eyelid.  Some guard dog he is.  Magnus was right off his food until they tempted him with haggis.  That seemed to get him peckish again.  He's not stopped eating since.

Saturday 21 July 2018

Magnus 21st July

Morning all.  Stomach still off.  Back on pills, powders and stuff to bung me up!!!  This hot weather isn't helping.  Pam has checked, apparently, Wolfies aren't great with warm weather.  We like it cool.  Eating well though.  They've put me on a chicken and fish diet.  Mirren says I've to keep playing it up because the food is amazing just now.  We are going back up to Roman Camp on Monday.  Love it up there.  It's Pam's birthday.  She told I'm not allowed to say which birthday it is!

Mirren 21st July

Magnus has his good points.  This tummy upset is providing us with fabulous food.  It's been an experience.  We are off to Callendar this Monday.  Pam has an important birthday and Ewen is taking us all away for a wee trip.  Love it at Roman Camp.  I feel I'm treated to the life I surely should have.  It's hard being so gorgeous and elegant.

Saturday 14 July 2018

Magnus Saturday14th July

Bonjour mes amis. C'est Bastille Day. Pam told me to write that.  But yes, hello.  Anyway, been at the vet.  Tummy a bit off.  I saw Kirsty.  She was lovely.  I had a very sore tummy and she made it better.  I think she's amazing.  Mirren was definitely in the huff.  She didn't get to flirt with Colin.  She grumped about it the whole weekend.  She really is difficult to please.  She couldn't even get excited about being on a golf course and meeting Ricky Fowler.  I mean... Ricky Fowler!  Oh, Pam's back from her holidays.  Ewen had a word with me and told me to be a bit more obvious about being glad to have her home.  So I tried to jump up on her and got a row.  A guy can't win.

Mirren Saturday14th July

Pam came back last night.  Thank goodness.  Sanity returns.  And of course I get massive big cuddles.  Magnus tried to put his paws on her shoulders!!!!  Really not a good idea but she was very pleased he tried.  Devastated I didn't see Colin at the vet last week but at least Kirsty stopped that terrible smell coming out of Magnus's bottom.   Yes we've had some interesting walks at the beach and on golf courses.  I have no idea why Ewen and Magnus got so excited about Ricky Fowler? Why are they excited by golf?  I don't know.  At least Ewen took some gorgeous portraits of me.  I look fabulous.  The wind rippling through my hair.  Stunning.

Saturday 30 June 2018

Early mornings and late evenings

Magnus 30th June

Well!  I am half asleep when Ewen takes us out.  He says the change in our walking hours is the heat.  I had to sleep with wet tea-towels on my head and tummy the other night I was so hot.  Mirren just seems to go into a trance.  She doesn't notice the heat as much as me and she has a thicker coat.
I had great fun the other evening.  I had to protect Ewen and Mirren.  They didn't know but two bullocks had got out of a field and were stalking them.   I tried to warn Ewen by barking but he didn't see them.  I herded the bullocks back up the road and they jumped over the fence and back into their field.  I was very proud of myself.  So was Ewen.  Mirren was, as usual, a bit ungrateful.  She was on her way home no matter what and wasn't impressed.

Mirren 30th June

It is hot.  I just lie down and think cool thoughts.  Light rain with a slight chill wind.  Snow but not freezing.  It works you know.  Strolling up the moor with Harry!!!  That warms me up quite a lot.  We met up again the other evening.  He really is rather gorgeous.  I was making my home determinately.  Then I saw Harry.  I had to do a quick shake to sort out my hair and lift my head to show off my model proportions in a better light.  It's good for a girl to feel good and get some positive feedback.  Lovely.

Saturday 16 June 2018

Fathers day on the Goilf Course

Magnus Sunday 17th June

Early morning walk with the Boss.  Lovely morning at 4.30am.  Sunrise.  Perfect.  We gave Ewen his card and his present before we left.  Good card and a book.  Bill Clinton or someone.  Pam says Ewen will like it.  It's our pawmoney so she'd better be right.

Mirren Sunday 17th June

Well that's Fathers' Day for another year.  I must say that these early mornings may be great for some but I, personally, prefer a longer lie in.   A girl needs her beauty sleep after all.  Decided to give old Genghis a bit of a run around.  We call him that because of his ears when's running.  Looks like one of those hats.  Anyway,  Pam did well with the card and present shopping.  Got everything I told her to.  Can't leave that sort of thing to the boys.

Friday 8 June 2018

Magnus 8th June

Well Pam's back.  She had a great time n Spain and enjoyed herself.  She came back a different colour! The weather has been rather hot and I find it all too much.  Ewen has been walking us really early in the morning so we don't get too overheated.  I like to join the parents outside but if it gets too hot, Ewen puts me back in the house.  I think this is rather unfair but.......  Mirren is hogging the bed.

Mirren 8th June

Good to have Pam back.  She gave me lots of cuddles.  Actually, I wasn't feeling a hundred percent when she came home.  Very tired and not hungry.  Recovered quite quickly.  I have discovered the coolest place to be is in bed in the bedroom.  I go straight there after walks, after eating and as soon as possible at night.  Magnus is getting annoyed because he can't get in.  Tough.   Possession and ownership etc etc.

Magnus and Mirren

We have to announce the sad loss of our wee pal Maisie.  She died on May 30th.  She was busy chasing birds, looking up into the sky and enjoying herself.  She didn't see or hear the car that hit her.  Keep chasing birds where ever you are Maisie.

Sunday 20 May 2018

Magnus May 20th

Ewen has gone golfing.  I knew, as soon as his wee case came out, that he was off somewhere.  Then the golf bag appeared. I like golf courses.  I can't think why he didn't take me.  I could bring back those little, white, dimpled balls he loses!!

Mirren May 20th

I don't know what he is worried about.  Ewen is only away one night.  Pam has her case packed for at least a week.  What will I do?  She always makes sure I get my cuddle ration and the little treats she slips me. Think I might have to take to my basket!

Wednesday 16 May 2018

Magnus May 16th

I don't know if it's old age or the heat or the fact Ewen walks us really early to avoid the heat but I want to go to my bed right after dinner.  You would think the parents would have picked up on this by now.  I stare straight at them (one of the benefits of being a Wolfhound is that you really can stare them straight in the face when they sit down!), I paw them severely, I chat, I try and show them and eventually one of them will say, "Oh, he wants his bed out."  Now, I mean my night bed.  In the nice cool bedroom.  Where I can stretch out and let Bitch Face have my day bed at the front window.  Peace.  Bliss.

Mirren May 16th

It appears that the parents have been too busy to do our blog.  I don't know.  Once they get side-tracked they loose all sense of responsibility.  Too busy painting fences and doing the garden.  Pam says it's because the weather has been reasonable and stuff has been needing done for years but it always just rains.  I agree about the rain thing.  It's been nice sunbathing weather.  The fan is on in the house.  Magnus can't cope with the heat!!

Friday 27 April 2018

Magnus and Mirren April 27th

Been lots of long walks recently.  Both knackered.  Decided we quite like each other.  Got snuggled up and spooned.

Monday 16 April 2018

Magnus 16th April

Well, that's Easter over and, apart from yesterday, the weather's been rubbish.  Had lovely walks though.  I do love the walk from Redpath to Leaderfoot.  I get to play in the river with Ewen.  It's great fun.

Mirren 16th April

And we met of lovely people yesterday at Redpath.  And their dogs- Harry, Fern and a footballing collie called Eric.  Harry looked like me.  I seem to like dogs called Harry?

We have to say farewell to one of our friends, Blue.  Blue was a Bearnese, who lived in Spain with Ollie and Ray.  He hadn't been well for a while but lived to the ripe old age of 10.  Say hello to the troops for us Blue!

Thursday 5 April 2018

Fingask Castle

Magnus April 3rd

Went for a wee visit to Fingask Castle.  Lovely place.  Had a wee wander round.  Horrible journey home, it rained so much.  Mirren was, as usual, just wanting to get back in the car or in the house.  I don't know?

Mirren 3rd April

He wanted to explore the gardens. I wanted to explore the castle!  There was a bunch of ladies in there getting ready for a wedding and I felt I'd have more fun with them!

Saturday 31 March 2018

Magnus 31st March/1st April

Well, this is all getting a bit ridiculous.  We had Spring a few days ago and now it's winter again.  More snowflakes .  I think I prefer just getting cuddled up on my furry bed and keeping warm.  My coat isn't as thick as it used to be since I wasn't well, and I feel the cold.  When it got a wee bit warmer we did have some really long walks.  I like revisiting walks and sniffing out who's been there.  Bitch face is making a big song and dance about tomorrow.  Should I tell her it's April Fool's Day??

Haha! Didn't go to Abbotsford.  We went to Mellerstain instead and had a lovely walk round the lake.  Bit scared of the swans but they left us alone so it was fine.

Mirren 31st March/1st April
I'm so excited.  Abbotsford are having an open day tomorrow for pets to visit.  Pam says I really must go because I'm a Deerhound and Walter Scott LOVED his Deerhounds.  I'm getting brushed and beautified so I look my best.  People might want to take my picture.  Maybe I'll get my picture in the papers and be famous.  I'd give my pawtograph to people.  Ooooooo can't wait.  Hope it stays dry.  I don't want my hair to curl or matt.

It doesn't matter.  Pam said there was a children's Easter Egg Hunt at Abbotsford.  I didn't want involved in that!  Chocolate is bad for dogs.  I'm sure Big Boy would have got himself involved and made himself ill.  Anyway, Mellerstain was beautiful too and I felt totally at home.

Magnus 18th March

Well, just when we thought it was safe to go out, it snows again.  Last week we went for a long walk on Mother's Day and we were wandering in the snow drops.  This week they are covered with snow again.  Oh well, never mind.  Been feeling the cold so I've been lying on the couch near the fire and Pam has started combing me.  She has also been grooming Mirren when she gets cuddled down.  Mir seems to like it though.  One side of me is very brushed.  The other side....not so much.
Oh! Just remembered.  Happy St Patrick's Day, from an Irish Wolfhound.  Forgot to post yesterday.  I was too buy busy watching my chaps win the Six Nations at rugby!!

Pam was very pleased with her Mother's day card and gifts.  She does seem to be very fond of chocolate.  And she does seem to be on a grooming campaign for Big Boy and myself.  She should have a look at herself sometimes!
Anyway, it's been a tricky weekend.  Three Scots and an Irish in the one house.  Big Boy just doesn't let up when it's St Patrick's Day.  "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met one of my family yesterday with the Irish Guards. The Irish won the rugby.  (the Scots did okay too) Don't the Irish celebrate well.  Isn't Irish dancing just amazing.  Aren't the Irish so musical."  I think I might slip him some ice cream and watch him go green!! Very Irish.  His lactose intolerance might be useful.
My beautiful friend has just turned one.  He is so handsome.  Pam says I'm too old for him and too old for twerking.  On second thoughts.... his name is Murphy!!!!!???? Do the Irish get everywhere?

 My Murphy...handsome chap isn't he.

Okay, we appear to be snow bound....since Wednesday!  Must be a few feet out there.  Past my tummy anyway.  After a good walk I am a tad tired.  All that leaping about in the snow at my age.  Just to make it worse P and E think it essential to wash our paws in case we have salt or grit on them.  Not my favourite thing but it does get rid of the snowballs in my paws.  I hope they get out soon.  I heard Pam mention they are running low on my mince?  They will have to walk and get some.  I need fed in this weather!  Actually finding it a bit chilly at night so I'm getting on the bed to snuggle up to P and E.  And they let me!!!!!!!!!

Not liking this.  The snow is over my tummy and that's just not on.  I've decided that the best way to deal with this is just to head home when I've had enough.  They can follow me.

As to the paw washing I'm finding the pawdicures rather nice.  The warm water and then a gentle towel massage. Very pleasurable.  I'll admit to being a bit concerned about the "running out of food" stories as well.  But I know that won't happen.  Pam and Ewen will make sure we are okay.  It has been cold at night but I have my new bed which seems to keep me cosy.  Big Boy has quite thin hair.  He's never got his coat back properly since he was ill last year.  My coat is, of course, fabulous.
