Magnus 29th January

It's been snowing.  A tad cold on the old paws.  I've been chilled at night so been on the bed again.  Life is actually quite good.  I realise, that after nearly 91/2 years, I've finally got them trained to give food on demand.  I've even organised a bit of play time with one of my toy rabbits.  However, after running up and down the hall twice I'm exhausted and have to have a wee lie down.

No matter what I do, I don't get food on demand.  It's sad really and I know they slip him some treats on the side as well.  Could feel quite low about it but Pam does give me the odd goodie he can't have.  Like scrambled eggs or lamb.  I am also sad because my friend is leaving.  Luther goes back to France on Friday.  I do hope we get to have a wee ramble together before he goes.  Pam assures me he will be back but it is quite a shame.

Magnus January 21st

I have discovered that sleeping on the bed with Pam and Ewen takes me right back to my puppyhood.  The furry rug is like furry bodies and Pam moves about and wriggles during the night.  It's like getting curled up again with all my brothers and sisters.  I sleep so well it's really amazing.  We had a visit from the French guy again.  He is really no bother at all.  Just snuffles around looking for food and dozing.  Reminds me of Mirren!!!

He is avoiding the fact that Pam's back is stiff due to trying to accommodate him.  I don't get on the bed unless it's a crisis.  Fireworks, guns.  That sort of thing.  Anyway, Luther did come to visit.  He did give me a little peck later on in the evening.  Kiss, Kiss.  When he's in the house he has different priorities.  Food, squeaky toys, dozing.  When we are on a walk it's different.  I understand.  Male needs are much more basic than those of the female.  Food, sleep, walk.  That's about it.

Magnus 14th January

Been a very busy week.  I had my MOT on Tuesday.  Apparently I am a very healthy, old chap with a good heart and a touch of arthritis in my spine, which is why my back hips are a tad stiff.  They've given me some pills and they are wonderful.  I feel properly bouncy again and going to bed is a joy.  Nothing hurts.  Pam says that's why I like it cold and dry.  My joints feel better.  Rain is a nightmare.  We had the French guy to stay the other day.  He really is very laid back.  Didn't interfere with my patch at all.  Just came in, hit the couch and snoozed with Mirren and I.  When we went for a walk he did everything Ewen said.  Which proves my point.  All dogs speak Dog.  Ewen speaks Dog.  Everyone understands.

Mirren 14th January.

I have had the BESTEST week.  I was checked over by Colin at the vets.  Haven't seen him in ages.  Still think he's wonderful even though he said I was a bit chubby but wearing well for my age considering what I've been through???? ( think he means my cruciate problems)  It was so lovely to see him again.  Then we had Luther to stay.  What can I say.  Mon ami francais avec les orielles magnifique.  He lay on the couch and I lay in my bed and just looked at him.  Then we went for a walk with Ewen and we had our pictures taken all together.

Ewen took one of Luther outside the castle, or chateau.  He looked so at home.  I think he's just perfect at modelling.  Doesn't humph about like Magnus does.  Doesn't he photograph well!  Tres Chic.

Magnus January 5th 2019

Well, here we are in a new year.  Pam and Ewen have discovered it's good for dogs to have a rest day. Let's us gather our thoughts and rest our bodies. I totally approve.  We had a doggie duvet day yesterday and today I feel like a new dog.
Ewen thinks I should take up modelling.  After my photo went viral on Amazon I posed for this little gem. I think I look suave.  Mirren just rolled about laughing.  She's trying to learn French.  She doesn't bother me when we are out walking now.  It's all Luther this and Luther that.  I should be annoyed but I'm really enjoying the peace and the chance to have a really good sniff at things without her sticking her nose in.

Mirren January 5th 2019.

Happy New Year everyone.  I am so enjoying Luther's company.  Magnus keeps laughing at my efforts to learn some French.  He says dogs speak Dog and we all understand the language no matter where we are from.  We have learned Two Legs language to keep them happy.  I just think it's polite to try and speak visitors language.  Anyway, the rest day is fabulous.  We slept, grazed, had two short walks and then slept. After the partying over the past two weeks I really enjoyed the rest.  I keep telling Magnus we need about 16-18hours of sleep a day.  We are big, older dogs so we need it.  I think I look fresher for the rest.
