Magnus March 29th
I really wish she would stop sticking that thing in my ear. Pam has gone totally over the top and checks my temperature all the time. It did go up again the other night and I was panting, so they threw wet cloths on my head. It was very pleasant and relaxing. I hope they remember that one. It has also been the the spring. We had two nice days so lay out side beside Ewen. It was lovely and fresh.
Winter returned and we were soon back to rain and cold though. This is typical Scottish weather. Everyone runs outside and has BBQs, wears sandals and T-shirts and cuts the grass or goes to the beach, whenever the temperature goes above 10C. Madness.
Feeding getting better again. Bitch Face is still trying to hoover everything I leave but Pam and Ewen are very strict. I do feel sorry for her.
Mirren March 29th
I AM SO HUNGRY! I am trying to be resolute and think thin. It is so hard when a girl likes her food. I know I have to lose weight, not just for my beautifulness but also for my joints but it is difficult. I'm dreaming of chicken and ham and bowls of food. Sometimes Magnus's legs start to look very tasty despite their hairiness.
As to sunbathing....I don't. It's nice if there is a breeze but to be honest I still have a very thick winter coat and I just get too hot. I prefer to lounge on a couch, in the studio, where it's cool. I posed for a few "Spring is Here" photos but that's it. Knew the weather wouldn't last. Spring is now done. We'll probably get a few nice days in May and that'll be summer. I am cuddling Pam a lot because I think we have given her Kennel Cough!!!

Magnus 21st March
Oh oh! Spoke too soon. Had a wee funny turn on Saturday night. Scared the life out of Pam and Ewen. They had to call the vet out to see me. My temperature had gone up to 104F. Apparently, just going up by 2F can be really bad for a dog. I had a fever. More injections and more antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. Pam and Ewen were very upset. I was asleep! Didn't feel well at all. Much better by the morning. More pills. Back to the vet on Monday. We have Kennel Cough. Never been near a kennel in my life. It's probably been drinking out of a communal water dish!! Who knew. Anyway, cause my immune system was low, it knocked me for six. Have lots of pills to take and I'm getting to eat more to build up my strength. Wish Pam and Ewen would stop taking my temperature. At least they have an ear scan thing. It could be the other end!!!! Every cloud!!!
Mirren 21st March
Being a sharing sort, Magnus has given me Kennel Cough. I must be feeling low too. I'm on a diet. I have lost 2.5kilos in a week. The vet is pleased about that. It's hard for a girl who likes her food. The cough does allow me to go around looking pathetic.
Saturday was very scary. Pam, Ewen and I all gathered round Magnus. At one point we all that he'd gone. I ran through to my studio couch. I couldn't bear to be there any longer I was so upset. He rallied though. The poor Big Guy has had a really rough time. He's been very brave though. I would miss him.
Magnus and Mirren
First of all a HUGE thank you to our vet Colin McGillivray, from Galedin, who came out on a Saturday night and kept in touch on Sunday.
We have learnt a few things.
1) DO NOT USE COMMUNAL DRINKING BOWLS!! We know shops and hotels are trying to be kind but this is probably where Magnus picked up his tummy bug and the Kennel Cough. The pills for the tummy bug delayed the showing of the cough.
2) You don't have to be in a kennel to get Kennel Cough. You can get it from water bowls or friendly dogs in the park.
3) We didn't get vaccinated because we were never in kennels. A lot of people don't believe the injection works but it can lessen the effects.
4) We are both being kept away from other dogs and being given a lot of rest.
5) A temperature rise of just 2F can kill a dog.
JUST THINK WHAT HAPPENS TO A DOG WHEN IT'S LEFT IN A CAR WITH THE WINDOWS SHUT. It's temperature can rise quickly. Dog's can't get rid of heat easily. They go unconscious and die.
We were lucky. Pam and Ewen were there. So was the vet.

Magnus 10th March
I am looking MUCH better. Not been sick or had a messy poo. Have new food to eat and no nibbles. Ah well. It's not as bad as Princess Fatso. She's on a strict diet, special food and an exercise regime. Ha ha!
Mirren 10th March
I am going to ignore all his nasty woofs at me. I have to get back down to sylph like and beautiful. But obviously, some people see past the looks and see the real me. Colin the Vet tickled my tummy so I really don't care. I am on cloud nine.

Magnus Wednesday 8th March
Well, all manner of indescribable things have happened to me this week. I have been knocked unconscious. I have had a tube passed down my throat to see my tummy. I have had my bottom shaved and I have the awful feeling I may also had a tube and camera put up my bottom. I have been ultra sounded and X-rayed. I have a HUGE bald bit on my tummy. When they got me home Pam and Ewen laughed at me because they said I was so stoned it was funny. Made them pay for that by keeping them up all night. Pam said it was as if I was tripping, whatever that is. Anyway, Ewen came and slept beside me and cuddled me until I felt better. I have now to eat this special food because I having something called gastroenteritis. It's been pretty bad. That's why I've been so sick and have had a sore tummy. Pam and Ewen are really pleased about this!!!!!!!!!!! Can't think why they'd be pleased I've got gastroenteritis.
Mirren Wednesday 8th March
The poor boy doesn't understand that they were worried it might be something else. I'm pleased he's okay too. But it's not been a good week for me either. I had to go to the vet yesterday. Ewen found a hole in my side. I really hoped I'd get to see Colin but he wasn't there. I was seen by this awfully nice young vet called Peter Matthews. He said I need a wee operation. I was unceremoniously just left! Pam gave me cuddle and left me. I was in shock. Anyway, I've got a bald patch too. But I have a big plaster. I must have run onto something sharp. Apparently, I've done it before because there was a scar right next to this one. It's when you're running really fast you just don't notice sticks and things. I do have some bad news though. Since I had my operation last year I've put on 7.5 kgs. I'm on a strict diet now. Pam says she'll join me. She says I have to lose weight because of the metal plate in my leg. Brilliant! Didn't see Colin. Can't get nibbles. Don't like Big Boy's new food. I am getting Diet Food. I have a bald patch (just as my hair was growing back in). Auntie Lala said I was getting a bit broad in the beam. I chose to ignore her because of my beautifulness but it seems she was right. Need to get myself back in shape.

Magnus and Mirren March 2nd
Magnus: Apologies for the delay but I have been unwell.
Mirren: Magnus has been sick a lot recently. On the cream carpet.
Magnus: I can't help it. When I need to throw up I do.
Mirren: But why do you try and hide it? You're sick behind the chair, or behind the door. When I throw up I just let it out.
Magnus: I'm just trying to be tidy and keep it out of the way.
Mirren: Oh well. It did mean a visit to see Colin again. I can't complain.
Magnus: He said I have a strong heart. I'm not so happy about them keep saying, "He's seven
and a half now. He's getting on."
Mirren: At least no-one was commenting on your weight!!
Magnus: You have to admit your coat is getting a bit tight.
Mirren: I'm just reaching my prime.
Magnus: Getting three smaller feeds might help you.
Mirren: What do you man "smaller"?
Magnus: We're getting less food but more often. It's to help my tummy.
Mirren: We'll have to see how that goes. I'll be registering my complaint if I'm unhappy.
Magnus: I am absolutely positive you will that!!!
