Magnus 28th October

Not a lot to report this week. Pam's been nagging Ewen about putting up some pictures from our trip.
Oh and also...I'm intelligent.  Witch face says with a head as big as mine there has to be something in it.  I had to do the dog intelligence test from the Telegraph.  I understand lots of words.  I can understand changes in tone of voice.  I always know when Ewen calls "Magnus" in that certain way, he's going to wash my bum.  I remember people and greet them properly.   I know what toy behaviour is etc etc.  I'm quite a bright chap, actually.  Must be 'cause I'm five.  I also know when to use an apostrophe properly.

Still getting over not seeing Colin.  Didn't do so well in the test Big Boy's talking about but then I didn't make an effort.  It just asked things that puts the humans in charge.  I AM in charge and do things my way.  Pam said she hoped I wasn't the type to sit up the back of class brushing my hair and checking my make up.  As if!  Oh, and if someone throws a nice, soft, cosy blanket over you, why would you want to shake it off?  And I can use punctuation too.

Magnus 21st October

I am now five.  I was five on the 9th, but we've been away.  We went to Kintyre, to a place called Claonaig. I went on the ferry again.  This time to Gigha.  We all went for a round of golf with Ewen.  I know to keep out of the way and lie down when someone is about to hit the ball.  Mirren gets a bit agitated.  I think she wants to chase the ball.  Not good.  Apparently one of the past dogs, Max, decided to try and nick the ball just as Ewen was about to drive off.  Colliding with a driver, in full down swing, is quite dangerous I believe.  Max wasn't very well for a while.  We actually went round a few courses. Tarbert was another.
The house we stayed in was lovely, but it had wooden floors.  I am not good with slippy floors.  I'm a wee bit scared I Bambi on them.  I try to walk on my claw tips.  By the end of the week I'd got to grips with the floor.  Literally.  Not a problem.  You just have to take your time.
I slept really well.  Must be the change of air.

Mirren 21st October

And I am now four.  My birthday was the 16th.  I'm still on the lead.  We went to the vet yesterday for a wee checkup.  Colin was off sick.  I was devastated.  I had even brushed my hair (what's left) for him.  Harry was nice but my hopes had been dashed.  Magnus was shaking, as usual.  Harry is just back from Mongolia.  I have no idea where that is but I think it must be a long way away.  Harry goes, every year, to make sure the horses are okay, in a cross country, long distance ride.
Yes, we've been on holiday again.  I chilled out a lot.  Not being able to run on the beaches and the golf courses was horrible.  The house was fabulous and very comfortable.  Big Boy was scared to put his paws anywhere and shook a lot.  Pam and Ewen had to put our downies along the floor, like a carpet runner, for him.  He is still rubbish at piers and quays too.  Can't walk on to a ferry, has to be in the car.
We were both very much admired everywhere we went.  People didn't mention my bald bits which was polite of them.  These bare bits can get quite chilly.  I'm glad my hair is growing back in.

Mirren Oct 8th

Feeling a bit fed up.  Magus is getting to run about and do what he wants.  I have to walk everywhere.  Saw a rabbit the other morning.  Couldn't get off the lead.  Magnus is hopeless.  A rabbit could sit up in front of him and he'd miss it.  I give up.  Pam is being kind.  She knows what it's like to be a bit sore in the joints in the morning.  My only fun is seeing Magnus getting his bum washed.  Why don't boys squat lower and then it wouldn't stick.  He's so white you can see his bum get dirty.  He can sense when Ewen is going to get him.  It must be the way he says, "Magnus, want some ham?" and the shut doors.  Anyway, it was a pleasure to know some one felt as shitty as I do.  OH! That was a pun!!

Magnus 8th October.

I have no idea why she had to tell you that.  It's SO personal.  I can't help it.  I'm always more interested in other things and move off too quickly.
Moving on.  Yes, it is great she's under control.  I even get to play, uninterrupted, outside, with Ewen and toys.  Fantastic.
I don't know why she's moaning.  I've had a rough time too.  It's been very wet.  How is a big dog to dry his nose properly?  I, personally, favour the "wiping your nose on the sofa, between the cushions and the base" method.  It does mess up the cushions a bit but I don't know what the song and dance is about. I get a nice dry nose.  So what if the sofas look a mess.  Mirren says sofas are for lying and doing yoga on!!  Well yes.  That too.  But when you have an itch or have a wet nose!!!!!!   I rest my case.

Mirren September 29th

Still confined to barracks.  I am getting walked but on the lead and I have to take it easy.  I am a bit embarrassed by my haircut.  Pam says she understands how a bad hairdo can just lower your self esteem.  I try to be brave, but it depresses me a bit.  I know it'll grow back soon but I'm used to shaggy, "just got out of bed" hair.  I am always amazed at women who shave their heads for charity.  They are so brave.   I know they do it for a good cause by I stand in awe of their confidence.  It gets very chilly.
Anyway, Big Boy has been quite pleasant.  He lets me have his bed and walks on the outside of me to hide my bald bits.  He has been quite kind.  A bit of a gentleman actually.  I am also getting free rein/reign (both do) of the furniture.  I have to be comfortable.  I'm becoming quite adept at the sad, pathetic eye thing.

Magnus September 29th

Life is great.  I get to run about like a a puppy, unattacked by Witch Face, who is on a lead.  It's great.  Ewen throws sticks and stones and she's not showing off how fast she is. I get to run and retrieve and win every time.  I'm letting her have the big bed just now.  She needs to stretch her legs.  But she's getting much better so I'll need to assert myself again.  Mind you, if she's on my bed, Pam and Ewen, acknowledging my  chivalrous behaviour,  let me on theirs.  Perhaps I'll forget the asserting bit!
She's eating a lot more after her op and funny mood time so there's not a lot left for me to grab from her dish.  On the other hand she's probably stuffing her face just to punish me for being fit. Women.  Just never get to grips with the way their minds work.  I have secret guffaw at her bald bits.  Ha-ha.  Who's in charge now?  Might as well enjoy it while I can.

September 13th  Mirren

Well, I'm home.  Pam and Ewen picked me up on Thursday night.  They came in Pam's car because they thought it was lower and Ewen could sit in the back with me.  Ha!  Showed them.  I told them off the whole way home.  Howled and screamed at them until we got home.  Payback is so sweet.  Pam said she was happy she was deaf in one ear.  Magnus greeted me warmly but I give him a snarl just in case he had something to do with it all.
I look like a badly cut Poodle.  My right hip and leg have been shaved but I have a hairy paw.  It's all rather odd and Pam says it'll probably itch as it grows back in.  She mentioned something about bikini lines but I'm not sure about what they are.
I am happy to be home but I have to have lots of little walks rather being able to run.  I am so going to miss being able to run.  I'm sure Olympic athletes must feel like this when they get injured.  All the pent up energy.  Not that I'm an athlete of that standard but Colin says I have have really low heart and lung rate.  A sign of a fit animal.  Talking of fit animals...I get to go and see Colin again...............Every cloud has a silver lining!
And don't forget the pate treats.  The guilt must be really gettng to Pam and Ewen!

Tuesday 9th September

Magnus

All is peaceful at the ranch.  Mirren isn't here.  Got to sleep in my own bed last night without her chucking me off it.  Anyway, she's in hospital.  At the vet hospital in Edinburgh.  Pam calls it the Dick Vet.  It's old name apparently.  We all went there on Monday.  I had to go back to the car.  I could smell vets a mile off and the floor was very tricky looking.  I just shook so Ewen took me back to the car.  Mirren hasn't come out yet.  She has cranial cruciate disease.  She's getting her right leg fixed.  I hope she doesn't have to go to an airport because she'll set off the alarms if she does.  Metal bit in her leg.  She'll have to take it easy for six months.  Pam and Ewen are quite concerned but I find the extra floor space attractive and Ewen and I have been paddling and playing in the river this morning.  Mirren doesn't like water.  That could be a problem because swimming will be good therapy for her leg.  Ha ha!!!

You can Facebook the hospital on https://www.facebook.com/dickvet
Pam and Ewen say it's really good there so hopefully my chum will be well looked after and I'll see her soon.

I've been at the vet too.  Jabs and a lumpy bit in my neck.  Fatty lump!!??? I don't think so.  I'm too fine a figure of a Wolfie to have a fatty lump for goodness sake.

September 1st

Magnus

Ewen has been away for FIVE days!  I really miss him when he goes away.  He's a bit of me.  I can't sleep, I can't eat and I upchuck.  This really endears me to Pam, who has to clean it all up.  She has this big machine that seems to help.  Anyway, he's HOME.  I am so happy I could wet myself.  Just threw myself at him, put my paws round his neck and licked him to bits.  I can relax again.  Order is restored.  Things are how they should be.
Oh, and Mirren is wearing pants again.  She's been very quiet. Not too much bitching at me about this and that.  She must miss Ewen too.

Mirren

The boy's an idiot.  I am in season again.  I felt really awful yesterday.  Pam thought I was very ill.  I couldn't eat, I couldn't drink, I felt huge.  Still do.  Does my bum look big in these knickers? ( see video) And what about the boys then?  They seem to think it's perfectly all right to stick their noses where I don't want them.  Have they no manners?  Magnus does it, but then he's my chum and he can't do anything anyway.  He's had the snip.
Pam's had a bad time too what with Magnus being sick all over the place and me being a bit of a drama queen, but then I am allowed to get a bit off at my time of the 6/7month.  She had to keep getting the carpet shampooer out.
Moving on.  Ewen has been away and Magnus has, as usual, felt abandoned.  Please watch the video clip.  Can I also say that this happens if Ewen goes away for five minutes, nevermind five days.

Sorry all but cant get the video to down load properly ............
