Magnus 26th April
It's been a really hard week. Ewen got taken into hospital on Wednesday morning. I was devastated. I knew when Pam came home on her own that something was up. I lay by the window and watched for him but he didn't come for AGES. Pam took us walks just like Ewen does but I missed him. I just wandered off on my own a few times. Lost in thought. It was great to get him home on Saturday. I couldn't stop shaking and hugging him. He's home now. That's all that matters.

Poor Ewen was really poorly for a while there. I felt so sorry for Pam she had so much running about to do as well as looking after Big Boy and me. Magnus was particularly difficult. After two days Pam started calling him "Kevin" because he was behaving like a teenager. He didn't help things. One day he just went off on his own. Pam was annoyed at him for being such an idiot. I gave him a proper telling off. I bit his ear and his muzzle and gave him a good barking. I doubt it made much difference.
Other than that we have had sunshine and then snow: sunshine and then hail:17C then 3C. I just don't know what it's going to be like next.
Got pants on again. It's that time of the year! Big Boy had better behave. I am in no mood for aggravation.

Magnus 19th April
Just been out for a play walk, with our toys, with Pam and Ewen and it was great fun and I had a toy-wrestling-match with Ewen. Great fun. We've been along the Leader walks too. I sunbathed today with Ewen. He needs those sun's rays to keep him happy.
Pam goes back to work tomorrow. Suppose we'll get less treats.

How can he be so flippant ?! Pam does go back to work tomorrow and I shall miss her dreadfully. It's not all about the treats it's about her cuddling me and long lie ins, the brushing, the neck scratches...............................and, oh well, the treats. Walks have been good too. Big Boy doesn't mention that when we went from Leaderfoot to Earlston we met up with ....a Labradoodle, a Spaniel and 4 Westies. Magnus was terrified. I had to stand in front of him to protect him. His legs were shaking.

Magnus 15th April
I really can't wait for Pam to go back to work!! I know it's great having her on walks and the treats thing but she turns into a night owl when she's on holiday and I need my sleep! I am a growing boy and need my rest. As guard dog of the house I cannot rest easy until everyone is settled for the night. She sits and watches late night TV and reads. She sews and paints. Why can't she just go to bed? I've gone through and tried to round her up and point her in the direction of the bedroom but she just resists.
Going for a mid afternoon nap while I can. Need to catch up.

Guard dog? I think not. A herd of rabbits could come in and he'd let them!! I am the guard dog. I know when to bark and when to stay still. There is no point in growling at cats through the window. They know they are safe. I just stare them out. As to my lovely mistress's late nights, I just put my paws round my ears and sleep on. He does get his paws in a twist. Magnus and Ewen are such early birds. I think I'm more like Pam. I like watching things go by in the wee hours. Things smell different too. A late night foray into the back garden is absolutely a nasal delight. Magnus would be too scared.
However, I agree with the mid afternoon nap. Great idea.

Magnus 8th April
Really sorry folks. Been very busy. Pam had her sister and brother-in-law to stay. We all lay about eating a lot. Suited me actually. Lying about waiting for food to drop is always a pleasure, but not always forthcoming. I know we are not allowed at the table when the two-legs are eating. I have discovered that, in fact, while they are eating, a foraging expedition is more successful. Take, for example, Monday lunch time. They were lunching. I checked out the kitchen and liberated a gluten free carrot cake. The icing is brilliant.

Once again, Sir Galahad offered me none of the cake. Big Boy is not a sharer. Pam and Ewen were not impressed with him. Pam gave me some of the salvaged cake, so that did make up for him not sharing_______but just a little bit. When I think of all the times I let him have my food once I'm full. He stands behind me drooling, I genteelly finish what I need ( a girl looks after her figure) and walk away letting him guzzle away. Well NO MORE! If he won't share neither will I. I have asked Ewen and Pam to remove my dish when I am finished. Big Boy can go suck a claw!
